What recent interns said about their experience
I enjoyed the internship as it made me realise more about what a solicitor would do, which in a few years i would be doing in the UK. I did a lot of practical work; not only theory, which I really enjoyed as a law graduate. I had a lot of practical experience which will be very useful for me.
This internship is a remarkable opportunity for those dedicated to wildlife conservation, offering an unforgettable experience with Africa's iconic animals that will leave you with memories to cherish forever. Seeing much of the wildlife here and working on a project I was passionate about was the most rewarding thing. Along with making some good friendships, but also with the camp managers themselves. They’ve been awesome during my stay here. Without a doubt my highlight was each and every time we saw the lions. As a kid growing up in Australia who is passionate about wildlife, seeing lions was something I only dreamt of and it was amazing to witness these incredible apex predators in the flesh. And to then be able to do my GIS project on the lions here was amazing!
This internship far exceeded my experience and I learned interesting things like reading animal tracks and signs. It's exciting and I've been kept on my toes as you never know which wild animal you'd see and that makes it interesting!
It was great being able to get my diving qualifications from open water to rescue diver very easily, doing the lessons as well as the beach clean up after diving. I made new friends from all over the world and dived with them and it was fun. The food was very nutritious, plentiful and quite impressive. I lived the life I never thought I could and didn't regret a single thing.
My internship and stay at Sodwana Bay exceeded any expectations that I had. The people are amazing and so is the diving! I built some wonderful relationships with the people around me and it was the best experience of my life!
My knowledge in QGIS grew as I progressed in my internship as I gained a better understanding of the structure of all its systems. I also learned a lot about vegetation, soil and other geographical facts in this program as I got to work on a project.
