Ready to boost your skills, qualifications, and water confidence? Scuba diving is not a requirement for Sea Turtle Conservation internships in Malaysia. However, all interns have the opportunity to up-skill, if you’d like to learn to dive during your time on the program. Take advantage of the opportunity to up-skill in the field of marine biology!

The PADI Open Water Diver course (Internationally Recognized) is the world’s most popular entry-level scuba certification. It equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills needed to dive safely and confidently. 

Certification requires a commitment of three days (after completion of the eLearning theory, which can be done in advance of your trip). Core Skills covered include:
  • Mask clearing and regulator recovery
  • Buoyancy control and trim
  • Emergency ascent procedures
  • Buddy system and underwater communication
  • Basic dive planning and safety protocols
After completion, you will be certified to dive independently (with a buddy), up to 18 meters, anywhere in the world! Complete your training during your internship in Malaysia and you’ll receive:
  • Professional, experienced PADI instructors
  • A safe and structured learning environment
  • Access to diverse marine environments
  • A strong emphasis on responsible and sustainable diving practices
