Scuba Training: PADI Open Water Diver

Ready to boost your skills, qualifications, and water confidence? Scuba diving is not a requirement for Sea Turtle Conservation internships in Malaysia. However, all interns have the opportunity to up-skill, if you’d like to learn to dive during your time on the program. Take advantage of the opportunity to up-skill in the field of marine biology!

The PADI Open Water Diver course (Internationally Recognized) is the world’s most popular entry-level scuba certification. It equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills needed to dive safely and confidently.

Certification requires a commitment of three days (after completion of the eLearning theory, which can be done in advance of your trip). Core Skills covered include:

Mask clearing and regulator recovery
Buoyancy control and trim
Emergency ascent procedures
Buddy system and underwater communication
Basic dive planning and safety protocols

After completion, you will be certified to dive independently (with a buddy), up to 18 meters, anywhere in the world! Complete your training during your internship in Malaysia and you’ll receive:
