What's included in the scholarship:

How to apply

FAQs

The IVHQ x CCID Community Impact Scholarship is open to students attending any CCID-member institution or a Hawaii or Texas CC system campus, who are over the age of 16. You need to come with a willingness to learn and get out of your comfort zone, while being immersed in a new country and culture.

  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Attend a CCID-member institution or any of the Hawaii or Texas community college system campuses
  • Have a desire to immerse yourself in a different culture and give back to a local community
  • Be willing to share photos and feedback about your experience with the IVHQ and CCID teams

Applications for the scholarship close at midnight on February 5, 2024 (PST).

The scholarship recipient will be able to choose from international volunteer and internship experiences in any of the 44 countries we offer programs. Alternatively, the recipient can choose from our remote internship options.

If you know you want to participate in an international volunteer or internship program but aren’t sure where or when, you can still apply for the scholarship. If you are selected as a finalist, the IVHQ team will be happy to assist you in selecting a destination / program that’s the best fit for you.

As a student participating in an IVHQ or Intern Abroad HQ program, you can obtain an academic credit transcript through IVHQ’s School of Record program. We offer variable credits to accommodate diverse durations of study.

Please read the Terms and Conditions of CCID Community Impact Scholarship carefully before entering. By entering, you certify that you agree to the following Terms and Conditions:

  1. These terms and conditions relate to the “IVHQ / CCID Community Impact Scholarship” promotion (“Promotion”) operated by International Volunteer HQ Limited, 99 Devon Street West, New Plymouth, New Zealand (“IVHQ”) in partnership with Community Colleges for International Development (“CCID”).
  2. Information on the prize and how to enter form part of these conditions of entry. By entering this promotion, you agree to be bound by these conditions of entry and all decisions of IVHQ which are final in all matters relating to the Promotion. The Promotion and these conditions of entry are void to the extent prohibited by law.
  3. IVHQ reserves the right to change these conditions of entry without prior notice. All dates are subject to change if necessary at IVHQ’s discretion. Any changes to these conditions of entry will be shared via email.
  4. Employees of IVHQ, Intern Abroad HQ, CCID and their subsidiaries and affiliated companies, and members of their immediate families or households, are ineligible to enter this Promotion.
  5. The Promotion commences at 12:00am (EST) December 4, 2023 and closes at 11:59pm (PST) February 5, 2024 (“Promotional Period”). Entries received outside of the Promotional Period will not be accepted.
  6. The rules of the Promotion and how to enter are as follows:
    1. All entrants into the Promotion must:
      1. be 16 years of age or older;
      2. hold a valid passport with at least 6 months validity at the date of travel;
      3. meet the requirements to volunteer or intern abroad regarding a clean criminal record.
    2. The Promotion is open to students attending any CCID-member institutions or a Hawaii or Texas CC system campus, who meet the requirements in clause 6(a).
    3. To enter the Promotion, entrants must complete the application form on this webpage during the Promotional Period.
    4. IVHQ will holistically evaluate the applications and select a recipient from all valid entries on February 9, 2024.
    5. The scholarship recipient will be notified by email within 7 days of the end of the Promotional Period. If the recipient cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 7 days of notification, IVHQ reserves the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.
    6. Upon accepting the prize, the recipient’s name will be published on IVHQ and CCID’s social media channels. By registering you consent to have your name shared if you are selected as the recipient of the Promotion and accept the prize.
    7. IVHQ reserves the right to cancel or modify the Promotion if it considers, in its sole discretion, the administration of the Promotion is impaired for technical or other reasons beyond its reasonable control and, in such an event, may select the winner from all valid entries received prior to the impairment.
  7. The Prize is as follows:
    1. $1,000 USD IVHQ or Intern Abroad HQ credit (“Scholarship Credit”).
  8. Prize conditions:
    1. The Scholarship Credit may only be put towards the Registration Deposit and Program Fees to participate in the IVHQ or Intern Abroad HQ experience of the recipient’s choice.
    2. If the recipient chooses a program that exceeds $1,000 USD, it is the responsibility of the prize recipient to pay the remaining balance.
    3. The prize recipient must travel and begin their volunteer or internship within 12 months of the end of the Promotional Period. If the recipient is, for whatever reason, unable to confirm the booking by this date, whether the failure was due to reasons beyond the recipient’s control or otherwise, then the recipient will forfeit the prize.
    4. The Scholarship Credit cannot be refunded, transferred, gifted, substituted or redeemed for cash.
    5. Acceptance of the prize constitutes permission for IVHQ and CCID to use the Promotion recipient’s name, likeness, and entry for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.
  9. The winner of this Promotion must also:
    1. Submit photos, videos, feedback and blog content from their volunteer or internship experience (within 4 weeks of completing the program) to be shared on IVHQ’s website and social media channels, subject to IVHQ’s review.
    2. Ensure all content shared with external networks and social media platforms is aligned with guidelines provided by IVHQ prior to the recipient’s program.

General terms:

  1. The recipient will be responsible for covering all other costs associated with traveling to and from the IVHQ or Intern Abroad HQ experience, including but not limited to flights, travel insurance, visas, vaccinations, criminal background check and spending money.

  2. The Promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or Twitter.

  3. Please refer to IVHQ’s Privacy Policy for information about how IVHQ collects, uses and discloses your information.

  4. All entrants into the Promotion and the recipient are also subject to the IVHQ Terms and Conditions of Service.

  5. The Promotion and these conditions of entry are governed, construed and interpreted under the laws of New Zealand.
