Weekends and travel
Given its beauty, Wroclaw is a major attraction for both domestic and international tourists alike. Known as “The Venice of Poland”, Wroclaw is a river city, famed for its charming network of bridges and islands. Like scenes from a fairytale, you can marvel at the various examples of Gothic and Baroque architecture and explore the restored Market Square (one of the largest in Europe).
The city’s history spans well over 1,000 years, so if you love history, you’ll have more than enough to explore (alongside all the comforts of modern amenities). You can dine at one of Europe’s oldest restaurants (established in 1273), delight in the gorgeous Baroque frescoes within Leopoldinum Hall, sample craft beer and gourmet food, take in scenic views from the Bridge of Penitents, enjoy a day trip to Książ Castle, and so much more.
Near the German and Czech borders, Wroclaw is conveniently located as a major European transportation hub too. If you’re keen to expand your horizons further and see more of Europe during your internship abroad, Wroclaw can serve as the perfect starting point for your trip.
Arrival and Orientation
When are internships in Poland available?
Internships in Wroclaw, Poland, begin every Monday of the year. Exceptions to this schedule may be made to this when start dates are shifted to avoid holiday disruptions, or closed when the program has already reached capacity. The program has limited capacity over the month of August. Interns may choose to spend a minimum of 2 weeks, up to a maximum of 12 weeks.
When do you need to arrive and check-in?
Airport pick up and accommodation are included in the Program Fee. The accommodation is covered from the Sunday night before the Monday start date.
The typical port of entry is the Nicolaus Copernicus Wroclaw Airport (also known as Copernicus Airport Wroclaw), abbreviated as WRO. In order to receive the airport pick up service, interns are required to arrive on the Sunday (before their Monday start date), between 9am and 6pm. Upon arrival, interns will be met, greeted, and transferred to the accommodation.
The last night of the accommodation is the Friday night of the final week, leaving interns free to depart on Saturday.
If you are planning to spend time independently in Poland prior to your internship and will not require an international airport pick up, we can discuss alternative arrival logistics with you. Requests for earlier pick-up times and/or extra nights of accommodation must be communicated in advance and are subject to availability. Additional cost will be incurred for pick-up requests outside of the scheduled timeframe for this service.
Please note that all participants are advised not to book flights until they have first registered to confirm their participation and internship placement details.
What does the orientation cover?
Orientation covers important details for your internship, including introductions, internship guidance, local culture, transportation, city logistics, rules, emergency contacts, expectations, safety, free time activities, and more. Your specific internship placement orientation will follow the general orientation, as you’ll be shown how to travel to and from your internship and be introduced to the team you’ll be joining.

Accommodation and WiFi
What kind of accommodation is provided for interns?
Interns in Wroclaw are accommodated in clean and comfortable, furnished apartments or houses. Upon the confirmation of specific internship details for each participant, accommodation arrangements are made, taking into consideration the location of internship placements, to ensure that any commute time is as convenient as possible.
Bedding and furnishings are provided (single or double beds), as well as common areas such as lounge, kitchen and laundry facilities. Standard amenities include WiFi, whiteware (i.e. washing machine, stovetop, fridge, microwave) and clean linen (i.e. bed sheets, pillows, towels). Laundry facilities are also available.
Cleaning is provided ahead of a new occupants arrival. Outside of this, occupants are responsible for respecting common areas, keeping them clean, tidy and comfortable for all guests.
It is important to note that an accommodation bond will be requested from the accommodation provider. The cost of the bond is US$400, so you must budget for this. However, this bond is fully refundable to you, upon your departure, provided that inspection has been completed to confirm that you have not caused damage to the property.
Please note that the accommodation pictured in the photo gallery of this webpage is provided as an example. Since we work with more than one apartment, the exact accommodation that you’re assigned may differ from the photos. However, you can expect a similar standard and similar amenities to what is displayed.
Is the accommodation shared?
The accommodation for interns may be shared with other program participants. This could consist of between 1-6 guests total, per apartment (same-sex living arrangements). Private apartments can be arranged in advance, if requested and subject to availability. If you are interning alongside a friend, please let us know and we can aim to ensure you’re accommodated together.
Where is the intern accommodation located?
The accommodation utilized by our internship program is privately owned by the Polish host organization and located across two buildings. It is situated in safe areas, with easy access to public transport, and near to internship placement sites.
What is required for commuting between the accommodation and internship placement?
Due to the layout of Wroclaw’s urban and residential areas, it is normal to expect a commute, via public transport (tram and bus lines), to and from your internship placement. The approximate commute time is up to 30 minutes. Interns should budget approximately US$30 per month, for a 30-day, unlimited, public transit pass. Bicycle rental is also available and the city is a wonderful location for cyclists, with well-developed infrastructure and many picturesque routes to explore. Note that free wireless internet is available at a number of places around town.
Meals
Internships in Poland do not include meals. The accommodation provides access to kitchen facilities. Supermarkets are easily accessible and there is a wide range of local eateries available, from budget-friendly to upscale, covering local and international cuisines.
An example meal budget could range from around US$4-6 for breakfast, US$6-12 for a simple lunch, and US$12–24 for dinner. However, your budget will be determined by your personal spending habits and lifestyle choices. Please take this into consideration and plan accordingly.
We recommend that interns chat with their colleagues for tips on recommended eateries in their area. Locals will be proud to make recommendations and share their favorite places with you.
