We work hard to keep our internship programs as affordable, flexible, and accessible as possible. Our low Program Fees open up career development and academic credit opportunities for those who may otherwise be unable to source or afford an international internship or long-term study abroad experience.
Most other international internship or study abroad providers charge a lot more than we do. So how is Intern Abroad HQ able to offer high quality, fully-hosted internships at such an affordable price?
1. We don’t offer all those “inclusions” that you’ll never use
Many global internship providers justify their high fees by offering inclusions that you’re unlikely to need or use. These often include a “free CV check”, “online networking events” or “access to a career advisor” — but are these really worth paying $1000s in extra fees for? At Intern Abroad HQ, we keep our Program Fees as affordable as possible by focusing on providing exceptional internship experiences and not offering “free” inclusions that you may not need.

2. We support interns to gain academic credit without any additional charges
We work with students and universities on an individual basis to facilitate academic credit recognition for your internship. We adapt our internships where possible and ensure placements are planned in advance to meet credit requirements. This approach is convenient for students, since you can collaborate with your own advisors to ensure you meet the specific credit requirements of your own education establishment. This also enables us to keep our fees low, since we don’t have the expense of affiliating with a School of Credit.

3. Our Experiential Learning Curriculum deepens the impact of your internship
Our Experiential Learning Curriculum is included on all internships, and enhances your experience in a fun and thought-provoking way. It guides interns to build self-awareness, cultural intelligence, and the comprehensive soft skills that employers look for. Our approach is based on an established model, using ‘tried and tested’ educational methods. This is a far better way to develop these skills than the expensive online courses offered by other providers. Such reflective exercises are invaluable when it comes to job or college interviews, as you’ll be better able to articulate your competencies.

4. Our affordable accommodation options support cultural immersion
On all our internship abroad programs, accommodation is included in your Program Fee and organized for you as part of your fully-hosted experience. Depending on your chosen internship destination, accommodation is either provided through a convenient homestay with a local host or through dedicated shared lodging with other program participants. This provides an authentic and immersive experience, helping interns to develop their cross-cultural communication skills. Most intern abroad programs also include meals, ensuring that the most expensive aspects of your internship experience (accommodation and food) are included as part of your Program Fee.

5. Our internship programs are run by locals, keeping costs down
Unlike other global internship providers who employ their own representatives to run programs abroad, Intern Abroad HQ collaborates with local professionals who live within the communities and cities where our internships are hosted. These local coordinators are in the best position to identify the most innovative, relevant, and industry-leading internship placements. They use their local connections to identify where our interns can make the greatest impact and achieve their career goals.
Collaborating with locals also allows Intern Abroad HQ to operate responsibly. It reduces the cost of hosting you, supports fair remuneration and long-term employment for local people, and sets realistic expectations from the start.

From the start, we’ve been committed to minimizing costs and maximizing value to allow a broader range of individuals to gain essential career experience. In fact, the lack of access to affordable internship options abroad is why Intern Abroad HQ was launched as a division of International Volunteer HQ. This dedication to accessibility has enabled us to host interns of 66 nationalities on our internship programs in the last year, including students from across Asia, Africa, Europe, the Americas and Pacific.

”I was able to shadow a general dentist, oral surgeon, and prosthodontist at the clinic. I was able to witness a variety of dental procedures and understand how dentistry in Greece varies slightly from dentistry in Canada. All of this knowledge and experience has helped me to solidify my career aspirations within dentistry. My favourite memory was being able to witness an abutment placement (for a dental implant). This was the most complicated case I had seen thus far, and my supervisors explained everything and answered questions, while performing this procedure.
