This is a remote internship you can undertake virtually from home. Click here to explore in-country Law & Human Rights Support internships, if you would prefer to travel and intern abroad.
There is a broad portfolio of placements available for virtual Legal Practice internships. Interns are welcome to request placements related to a range of legal themes including business and family immigration, asylum, domestic violence cases, criminal immigration issues and court litigation. These requests will be accommodated wherever possible, but are not guaranteed. All interns are required to present a copy of their resume in advance, as your internship placement will be in assigned in consideration of your current skills and experience level.
As a remote intern, you’ll be in regular contact with your supervisor through email and online meetings, where you’ll receive guidance, feedback, and be guided to set tasks and goals. Firm attorneys who provide mentorship and guidance to interns encourage questions and are approachable, to support personal and professional development.
The nature of an intern’s duties can vary, but generally include assistance with administrative tasks, litigation preparation, legal document translations and summarizations, drafting letters, forms, affidavits, applications and motions.
In all cases, interns should expect that the initial phase of their remote internship will focus on gaining some introductory knowledge. You may start by gaining an understanding or overview of what you can build upon, develop, learn, and contribute. Ensure that you ask questions and provide feedback during the introductory period, so that your supervisor understands how you’re progressing. This will help them to better understand important details, such as how quickly you learn, what you find challenging, what you find interesting, etc.
