Remote engineering internships out of Spain are a perfect way of gaining hands-on experience in a specific engineering sector. There is a broad portfolio of placements available on an engineering internship in Spain, offering scope for you to be ideally matched to a unique opportunity that suits your interests, motivations and skills.

Virtual internship placements are available in different specialized sectors, subject to availability, such as:

  • Civil engineering
  • Industrial engineering
  • Industrial design
  • Digital manufacturing
  • Biomedical
  • Electronics
  • Aeronautical engineering
  • Textiles
  • Renewable energy (i.e. thermal solar energy, wind power, and biomass)

Interns assist with a range of different projects that are relevant to your background and level of experience. You’ll participate under the guidance of an experienced supervisor, learning industry-standard procedures and contributing to real life projects.

If you’d like to intern in a specific sector, please include details in your application. With a broad range of internship possibilities, you’ll get a more detailed description of your internship once it has been designed with your interests in mind. If you’re looking for a specific kind of placement, have a chat to our team and we’ll be happy to provide more guidance.

Remote interns get the added benefit of improving communication skills, as you’ll be regularly liaising with people in Spain via email and online conferences. Virtual interns maintain regular contact with their supervisor via online meetings and emails, receiving updates and feedback on your internship tasks. You’ll contribute according to an agreed schedule that works for you. However, there will be times when you need to be available for meetings during office hours in Spain. Therefore, you should compare the time-zone in Spain to your own and ensure you’ll have the flexibility to do this.

This internship is conducted in English, or in Spanish by agreement with your internship supervisor. Online Spanish language lessons can be arranged in conjunction with your remote internship if you’d like to further develop your language skills.

In all cases, interns should expect that the initial phase of their remote internship will focus on gaining some introductory knowledge. You may start by gaining an understanding or overview of what you can build upon, develop, learn, and contribute. Ensure that you ask questions and provide feedback during the introductory period, so that your supervisor understands how you’re progressing. This will help them to better understand important details, such as how quickly you learn, what you find challenging, what you find interesting, etc.

Understand and expect that individual internship experiences vary. Therefore, if you’re at a more introductory level, you should reasonably expect a more introductory internship. Likewise, if you’re interning for a shorter duration, you will have a different experience from someone who is interning for a longer duration. Placement preferences are considered but always subject to availability.

I chose to participate in this remote internship because it allowed me the freedom to work from home, while getting involved in a field I love with an international company. The experience helped me develop my understanding of how an organization operates in every way possible. I'm most proud of my professional growth and all the knowledge I gained. I feel really good with this experience and how much it has helped me in a professional and personal way.

August 2020

My Engineering internship role this Summer allowed me to be a business analyst for a company where I was able to access and understand various biotechnology projects. This internship is going to benefit me with my long term goals for entrepreneurship in the future. I am learning about how to read and create patents, and how to assess competition in a potential field that I may want to open/start a business in. I was pleasantly surprised to discover how friendly and open everyone was. If there was ever something I needed or I was confused about, there were numerous people at the company that I could go to, who were more than happy to help me. Even virtually, it was a very welcoming atmosphere.
