What recent interns said about their experience
I was involved in a variety of tasks that contributed to both the planning & execution of the weddings. I assisted with the online sales on Shopify by creating product boost tags to help upsell wedding-related products and services. I participated in site visits to explore potential new venues and gained valuable insight into venue assessment and client suitability.
On the marketing front, I created informational blog content covering topics such as Bali as a wedding destination, venue information, outfit & styling inspiration & family-friendly activities for children, enhancing the couples journey through the planning process. I had the opportunity to visit 5 weddings where I shadowed key roles, including the Day Coordinator, Guest Relations and Stylist.
As a Day Coordinator, I was responsible for ensuring smooth communication between the team and cross-checking key ceremony details, such as the presence of rings & vows. I had the opportunity to liaise with other event staff such as the function manager, event curator and serve as a point of contact and information source for both guests and vendors.
Whilst shadowing the Guest Relations role, my responsibilities included checking in guests, escorting them to designated areas and keeping them informed throughout the event.
As a Stylist, I worked closely with the floristry team to prepare and arrange key floral elements, including bouquets & centrepieces as well as setting up the ceremony area, garden party and reception, contributing to the overall aesthetic of each wedding.
Through my involvement in various roles, I developed a wide range of professional skills, including people management, customer service, cross-cultural communication, time management, problem-solving and the ability to stay calm under pressure. I also learnt the importance of asking questions to deepen my understanding.
Solo traveling to Bali significantly boosted my confidence, independence and ability to navigate challenges. Being in a new country with a different culture significantly strengthened my interpersonal communication skills, as I regularly interacted with locals and other interns from around the world, all of which have positively influenced both my personal growth and professional development. As a visual learner, this experience allowed me to absorb knowledge in a hands-on environment, while also meeting new people & industry professionals from around the world. I gained insights and advice from them that I wouldn't have had access to otherwise.
I really enjoyed working in a supportive environment and learning how a hospitality management company operates behind the scenes. This internship helped me grow professionally by applying my accounting knowledge in real situations, and personally by building my confidence and communication skills.
Everyone I encountered - whether at the internship, my accommodation, restaurants, or supermarkets - was incredibly patient and kind. My favourite memory from the program was the countless lunches and laughs I shared with my colleagues throughout my internship. I also really enjoyed going into the community, visiting local businesses, and capturing moments through photography - it was such a meaningful way to connect with people and see the impact of our work firsthand.
It was very good it really pushed me out of my comfort zone. The team I joined was friendly and treated me very well.
