There is a broad portfolio of placements available for virtual accounting internships. All Accounting interns are required to present a copy of their resume in advance, as internship placements are assigned in consideration of your current skills and experience level. You’ll be well placed to assist with the provision of basic accounting services.

Depending on the priorities of your internship placement, as well as your own level of experience, you may anticipate activities related to general operations such as bookkeeping, reconciliations, journal entries, filing and maintaining records for client accounts. Whether you’re learning about procedures for maintaining and auditing financial statements, assisting with projects, or contributing to report upkeep and renewals for client accounts, there is great scope to put your skills into real-world practice and refine your expertise.

As a remote intern, you’ll be in regular contact with your supervisor, who is based in the US, through emails and video conferences. Your supervisor will play an active role in providing feedback, assistance and guidance to help to cement your learning and improve your skills. Interns are encouraged to directly discuss their learning goals and objectives with their supervisor.

Given the broad scope of host organizations available to host remote interns, you are welcome to state your preferences. Clients of such accounting services can include nonprofit, public and private organizations, as well as government agencies. Interns looking for specific experience within a field should include details in their application. These requests are accommodated wherever possible, though are subject to availability.

In all cases, interns should expect that the initial phase of their remote internship will focus on gaining some introductory knowledge. You may start by gaining an understanding or overview of what you can build upon, develop, learn, and contribute. Ensure that you ask questions and provide feedback during the introductory period, so that your supervisor understands how you’re progressing. This will help them to better understand important details, such as how quickly you learn, what you find challenging, what you find interesting, etc.
