Internship details

Almost all modern business and financial activities - whether small or large - rely heavily on technological services, handled through in-house or professional firms. The range of careers related to IT are numerous and the need to gain “job-ready” skills is a crucial step for all young professionals seeking to enhance their employability within the field of technology and computer sciences - especially as it relates to critical thinking and problem solving.

This is a remote internship you can undertake virtually from home. Click here to view in-country Computer Science & IT internships, if you would prefer to intern abroad.

Remote IT internships provide a learning environment to further explore and develop practical skill sets, while learning from professionals who are established within their roles. Practical activities for interns are ordinarily related to assisting organizations to address operational challenges and inefficiencies, support clients, maintain information, improve products, service delivery, and user experience. Everyday tasks may include (for example) testing, developing and analyzing new tech solutions, researching user experience, and improvising technology solutions to deliver on business objectives.

Individual remote internship experiences vary, as the specific placement that you’re assigned will depend on review of your resume and your current level of studies and experience. Interns will be encouraged to focus on their areas of strength, while also being flexible, to ensure that contributions can be made according to interest, as well as need. In all cases, interns are expected to be as proactive as possible, as a high level of initiative will greatly enhance your cultural immersion and program engagement.

Remote internships are intended to be flexible and interns have some freedom to develop a schedule that works for them, while ensuring that personal responsibility is taken for maximizing the experience. You are not required to do your internship exactly according to the time zone of your host organization. However, you must have an understanding of any differences in time zone, since you’ll need to ensure you can make a commitment to connecting with your supervisor in real-time (during the supervisor’s business hours) when it may be necessary for scheduled meetings or calls. Between any real-time meetings, you should anticipate that you’ll create a plan of action with your supervisor, which outlines the tasks you’ll be assisting with independently.
