Remote Journalism & Media internships provide excellent opportunities to learn, while activating your sense of initiative and creativity. England is home to a large concentration of media companies and professionals, ensuring a competitive and fast-paced industry. Broadcasters, news publications and retail are particularly dominant within this sector, so there is a vast network of placements available for interns seeking personal and professional development.

Individual remote internship experiences vary, as the specific placement that you’re assigned will depend on review of your resume and your current level of studies and experience. Interns will be encouraged to focus on their areas of strength, while also being flexible, to ensure that contributions can be made according to interest, as well as need. In all cases, interns are expected to be as proactive as possible, as a high level of initiative will greatly enhance your cultural immersion and program engagement.

Remote internships are intended to be flexible and interns have some freedom to develop a schedule that works for them, while ensuring that personal responsibility is taken for maximizing the experience. You are not required to do your internship exactly according to the time zone of your host organization. However, you must have an understanding of any differences in time zone, since you’ll need to ensure you can make a commitment to connecting with your supervisor in real-time (during the supervisor’s business hours) when it may be necessary for scheduled meetings or calls. Between any real-time meetings, you should anticipate that you’ll create a plan of action with your supervisor, which outlines the tasks you’ll be assisting with independently.
